I hope my son doesn't ever read this post... My 7yr old with special needs still wets the bed. It's not an often thing, mostly when we forget and let him drink something before bed, but it happens. When it does, it's a difficult thing to get him up and change the sheets... Now, instead of doing that, we simply roll him over, slip our Wearever Bed Pad over the accident, and roll him back. Problem solved. (well, until the morning, when I have more laundry, but I digress.)
It's really that simple. While the Quilted Incontenince Pad isn't truly meant for that, it's more meant for adults who have similar problems, you put it on the bed and it prevents the bed from getting wet, I suppose we could do that too... let him sleep on it nightly, and then if an accident occurs, simply remove it from the bed. Either way, it's been a lifesaver.
It's got a plaid designed cotton cover that is soft enough to lay on with your bare skin, and sturdy enough to hold up to anything we've thrown at it... and that's been quite a bit!! When my son was sick, and was ready to vomit, yes, it was grabbed! Then it was thrown in the tub, and SCRUBBED...
When my son's nightly accidents were more often, prior to this, we used towels. The problem with them (I should mention, that because of his special needs, he sleeps in the bed with us- an ENTIRELY different blog post... really!) is that while the towels soak up the urine, they SOAK it up... which means that one of us usually wakes up wet too, and that really sucks.
Now that we've got the Wearever, that doesn't happen AT ALL! It has this really great Unique-Dri™ inner core that keeps the liquid from going from one side to the other. Which means, if you put it on the urine, it stays there!! And we stay dry!!!
The other item that I received for review were the Wearever Women's Smooth & Silky Seamless Full-Cut Incontinence Panties. You can read my full review here.
Remove all bedding from the mattress and wash it in hot water with detergent. If the mattress is encased in a cover or anti-allergan case, remove and wash it as well.
