In this bloghop, we name our most favorite martian... Mine, is Marvin the Martian. I know, not a 'person' but he is an alian individual (right?)
See, when I was growing up, we did watch SciFi, but it was Planet of the Apes, Star Trek and the like. I myself, mostly watched cartoons. (I left home at 16, and I didn't have the "family movie nights" that are normal in my home.

Marvin comes from Mars, but you rarely find him there. He is joined by his dog K-9
and sometimes others.
He's known for his quotes:
"Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an Earth-shattering kaboom!"
"Isn't that lovely?"
and "This makes me very angry, very angry indeed."
Marvins goal was to destroy the earth in many episodes, he used is "Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator" (sometimes pronounced "Illudium Pu-36") which resembles a stick of dynamite.
Marvins reason for destroying the earth? "It obstructs my view of Venus"
He's been trying to destroy Earth for 2 millenia, however, he's forever stopped by Bugs Bunny.
Marvin appeared in:
Baby Looney Tunes,
Duck Dodgers
The Looney Tunes Show.
Tiny Toon Adventures in a segment entitled "Duck Dodgers Jr.," where he is accompanied by an apprentice named "Marcia the Martian."
I found a rare picture of them together for you
He also appears in the Taz-Mania episode The Man from M.A.R.S. and makes a cameo in The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries ("What's the Frequency, Kitty?").
Marvin also made appearances on Animaniacs along with his dog K-9
And most recently in a MetLife commercial.
Marvin had one of the best designs for any animated character, Looney Tunes or otherwise. And he was a great character, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike. Marvin was my choice as well. It's good to see the fondness reaching the red planet. :-)
